Switch Online Subscribers Get Access to Two Classic Zelda Games from Nintendo
Nintendo has recently added two classic Zelda games to its Nintendo Switch Online platform, providing an alternative for those who have already completed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and are seeking new gaming experiences.
The games include The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, both released for the Game Boy Color back in 2001. Despite having similar names and original release dates, these are separate titles with unique effects, gimmicks, overworlds , NPCs, dungeons and more.
Both classics are top-down adventures in the vein of The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, featuring charming period pixel-based graphics. These are the original releases and have not been remastered in any way, so you won’t get the same graphical flourishes as 2019’s The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake. However, that remake cost $60 and these are (sort of) free. Additionally, this pairing is considered by many to be one of the best games in franchise history.
Both games require a Nintendo Online subscription, which costs $20 per year or $4 per month. A seven-day free trial is available for beginners. However, you don’t need one of those fancy Expansion Pack subscriptions. For the price, you also get a lot of other iconic Zelda titles from the NES and SNES days.
